New Zealand Journal of Ecology (1997) 21(2): 121-128 ©New Zealand Ecological Society E. wiltoni Locket, Leptyphanthes tenuis (Blackwall) dominated in pitfall trap catches. In this paper, we provide the first quantitative data on the density and diversity of spiders in New Zealand cultivated land under different management regimes, and compare the species assemblages with those found in similar habitats in England.
